The MLB opened up its All-Star fan voting this past week, which gives everyone roughly a month to vote for their favorite players for the All-Star game in July. The Cubs are playing like one of the National League’s best teams to this point, so let’s take a look at which Cubs players could be due for a trip to Atlanta.
CF Pete Crow-Armstrong
As most baseball fans know, Pete Crow-Armstrong has taken the league by storm with his electric play style. He’s not just been incredible in the field, but elite on the basepaths and great at the plate as well.
PCA is slashing a career best .278/.314/.556 while hitting 16 home runs and 53 RBI so far in 2025. If the All-Star game was just about offense, he might not be entirely considered because of the outfield talent across the NL.
Crow-Armstrong isn’t just playing like the best defender in the sport, he IS the best defender in baseball. He currently leads all center fielders with 11 outs above average and nine runs prevented. The same speed he uses while running the bases is being equally utilized while on defense, too.
Given that there are three spots for outfielders, why not give one of them to the best defender in the league who is also having a breakout offensive year? Pete Crow-Armstrong should be starting in center field for the National League on July 15th.
RF Kyle Tucker
Kyle Tucker has been great for the Cubs this year. He’s been the superstar bat that makes everyone around him better because of how other teams have to pitch to him.
Tucker has a slash line of .283/.395/.522 with 12 home runs and 40 RBI coming into Saturday’s contest against the Tigers. He’s also been a solid defender in right field.
He is a major part of this Cubs offense that has been at the top of the major leagues in 2025 and will look to continue their strong offensive performance into the dog days of summer.
Tucker may not secure a starting spot with Corbin Carroll, Fernando Tatis Jr., and his teammate Pete Crow-Armstrong playing great ball so far, but don’t be shocked if he lands a spot as a reserve for the National League squad.
2B Nico Hoerner
Nico Hoerner has been one of the most underrated players in all of baseball this season. Most fans know that he doesn’t hit for power, but he’s got almost every other tool at his disposal.
He’s been slashing a very strong .294/.340/.368 at the plate and has been a fantastic defender as well. Hoerner has eight outs above average and has six runs prevented so far, and continues to make the difficult plays look routine.
Despite how good those numbers look, he’s been at his best when hitting with runners in scoring position.
Hoerner has been hitting .400 with runners in scoring position, and all 28 of his RBI have been in those situations. He has 26 hits and only seven strikeouts with runners in scoring position as well.
He’s been a good hitter, but a great situational hitter. Being able to bring in runs when your team needs them is an underrated attribute in the game of baseball, but Nico Hoerner has got it, and it should earn him some recognition when you vote for your 2025 All-Stars.
