Planning Ahead for the NFL Game of the Week

Week 2 of the NFL Season is here! Let’s start planning ahead on our NFL education for the week. As you know, we are all about finding stories in sports and applying it to business.

For our game of the week we went with the Sunday night matchup–a rematch of the 2017 NFC Championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons.

This game will be the first regular season NFL game at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

The reigning NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons are coming off a 6 point win against the Chicago Bears. Not the start that many were hoping for, but as you know the season is a marathon not a sprint.

As for the Green Bay Packers, they are coming off an impressive win against the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers are going to come out swinging against a team they lost 44-21 to in last year’s NFC Championship.

This matchup has turned into a must watch and could become a rivalry if these teams can continue to produce great games against one another.

Here at SportsEpreneur we like to go deeper than just the score of the game. I would like to see if the Falcons can keep their heads up after a blown game in the Super Bowl and a close game in week 1. As far as the Packers are concerned, I would love to see some heart from the Packers. After being embarrassed in the playoffs by this team, I’d like to see them come out and make a statement.

This game means more than just any week 2 matchup, for these teams, this is a potential playoff matchup.

Our Rooting Interest?
Though I do not have a direct rooting interest in this game, I would like to see the Packers show the Falcons that they belonged in the Super Bowl last season. So, I am pulling for the Packers to come out strong and get the win.

Player to watch: Julio Jones
Can the Packers slow down Julio Jones? Over the star receiver’s career, he has averaged 121 yards and a touchdown per game against Green Bay. And more recently, Jones scored 2 touchdowns and had 180 yards in the NFC Championship game against the Packers. For the Packers to have success, they must slow down Julio.

Prediction:

Who is going to win the game?

I am going with the Green Bay Packers. Look for the Packers to score early and often as they aim to get the win against the Falcons. This team wants nothing more than to beat the team that kept them from the Super Bowl last season. It’ll be a close and good game but my vote goes to Green Bay.
